Background
Mission
To advance the education of young architecture graduates through foreign travel-study.
Founding
The Cavin Family Traveling Fellowship Fund was established in 2002 as part of the California Community Foundation. In 2006 the Pasadena & Foothill AIA Chapter established a Fellowship Secretary to administrate the Cavin Fellowship. The initial award of this Fellowship was in 2007. The Fellowship promotes design sustainability. The Cavin Fellowship honors the architectural traditions of William Brooks Cavin, Sr. and William Brooks Cavin, Jr., FAIA. The Cavin family will remain involved in the mission of the Fellowship.
Fellowship Award
On the basis of a juried design competition, this endowed Fellowship annually will award a promising architecture graduate or practitioner $10,000 to advance their education in architecture through ten weeks of self-devised foreign travel-study.
